Abstract

In order to investigate the effect of foliar spraying of methanol and nano-chelate on the yield and yield components of barley, a factorial experiment was conducted in the form of a randomized complete block design in three replications in Alashatar region (Lorestan province) in two crop years 2016-17 and 2017-18. Experimental treatments include methanol foliar spraying at four levels (control, methanol foliar spraying with concentrations of 10, 20 and 30% by volume) and nano-chelate foliar spraying at three levels including (control, nano chelate foliar spraying at the tillering stage and 50% stemming stage of plants). The results showed that the interaction effect of methanol× nano-chelate foliar spraying on number of spikes per/m2, number of seeds per/spike, biological yield, seed yield, harvest index and seed protein at the probability level of one percent; and it was significant on the plant height and 1000 seed weight at the probability level of five percent. The highest grain yield in the interaction treatment of methanol foliar spraying with a concentration of 30% by volume× nano chelate foliar spraying in the tillering stage of plants (1127.53 kg/ha-1), and the interaction treatment of methanol foliar spraying with a concentration of 30% by volume× nano chelate foliar spraying at the 50% stemming stage of the plants (1090.36 kg/ha-1), both were observed in the same statistical group. and the lowest in the control treatment (no foliar spraying of methanol and nano-chelate) with an average of (807.61 kg/ha-1), and the interaction effect treatment of methanol foliar spraying with a concentration of 10 volume percent× no foliar application of nano chelate (909.69 kg/ha-1), both in one statistical group, was obtained. The grain yield in the interaction treatment of methanol foliar application with a concentration of 30% by volume ×nano chelate application at the tillering stage compared to the control treatment (no foliar application of methanol and nano chelate) showed a superiority of 39.61%.Foliar spraying of methanol and complete micronutrient chelate fertilizer significantly increased grain yield and yield components of barley. that according to the results of this experiment, the best and most appropriate treatment was methanol foliar spraying with a concentration of 30% by volume × complete chelate fertilizer foliar application at the tillering stage, which compared to the control treatment (no methanol foliar application and complete fertilizer chelate), showed an increase in economic yield by 39.61 percent. Therefore, it seems that methanol spraying and complete chelate fertilizers can be effective in improving the growth and yield of barley and significantly increase the seed yield of this plant. In general, foliar application of methanol and chelate-fertilizer was able to significantly increase grain yield by improving barley plant growth indicators.
